Alendronic Acid

Hi. I have Rhumatoid Arthritis and have had a DXA scan and was put on AA , but it doesn’t agree with my stomach.

Options for treatment without taking a tablets, I have heard about injections , does anybody have different treatments, please

I have a 12% 10 hear probability of a hip fracture

Which means 90% chance of NOT having a hip fracture! Also, falling is the biggest risk factor.

AA doesn't agree with my stomach either. I'm going to give risedronate a try. My risk factor is the same as yours but in my spine. I've also got a comprehensive exercise plan that I've built up over the past year and adapted my diet. I make my own kefir and take some every day. I've been prescribed calcium and vit D and take some other supplements including cod liver oil (just have to watch vit D and retinol content). Not sure if all of this will help but I certainly feel better and gradually having less pain in spine and muscles. I've had 3 fractures but not in spine and still relatively young for osteoporosis.

Ask your GP if you could try risendronate. I haven't tried the injections yet so no experience.
