What would you like to know?

Important things are good diet, Vit D, enough calcium in your diet, supplements, K2, cod liver oil, magnesium, boron. Some of us eat prunes, sardines, drink kefir. Weight bearing exercise, tai chi, slow weights, nordic walking, walking.

Some take an OP medication as well.

How long have you been diagnosed with OP?

Do you know what your T-scores are (an indication of how much bone loss there may have been) and whether an underlying cause for your osteoporosis has been identified (for example, medication you're on for another health condition)? To some extent these may have a bearing on managing your osteoporosis.

Hi Hather, did the surgeon say why no K2 when you are waiting a bowel op. I had a bowel resection 4 x years ago and am just wondering?

Well no but reading up about vitamins before operations, it seems they might effect the anesthetiic or reactions to heart etc .. not sure if I’ve got that exactly right..but I also read that’s it K1 not K2 that could affect the op?.ive no idea if I u derstand that correctly.. I have just another pre op so hope this second PRolapse repair is done soon ..delayed cos of being no beds during the winter, which can understand..I had the last op about 4years ago but had to care for my late husband involving a lot of care so,this time now I am on my own maybe I will be able to take of myself whilst recovering..the last one was keyhole, followed, by hernia on the porthole ..so a further op...this time they are repairing from below, which hopefully is not such a big operation, tho,I don’t know anyone who has had this procedure..I,hope you are ok after your operation.😊

I also had a bowel resection 2 years ago, due to cancer, and am taking K2 for my OP. Hope it’s ok?
