I’ve been on many blood pressure medications with many side effects at least found lercandipine which I’m happy with, however I’m four months into the treatment and have an underlying sicky feeling a lot if the time. Has anyone else felt like this on this treatment- it may be totally unrelated just can’t tell

Hi JAHH. I’ve tried lots of different medications and had lots of different side effects too. I was on Lercanidipine recently for a year. It was fine at first, apart from some palpitations, but in the end I had to come off it as I suffered severe side effects. I certainly had less energy but my side effects were mainly shortness of breath (including having my first full-on asthma attack - I have A-typical asthma and rhinitis), exacerbated rhinitis and a continuous cough, both of which affected my every day life and ability to do activities. I’m not suggesting at all that you will get these side effects. In fact, I think they’re quite unusual with this medication. I just thought it might be helpful to let you know that you’re not alone in experiencing side effects from this drug - assuming it is the Lercanidipine that’s making you feel sick. It sounds like a good idea to keep an eye on it.

Hi JAHH …….I am 68 and on lacalpin 10mlgs for approx. 1 year having been on it previously (10 years ago)…..it’s really keeping my BP down ( along with Tritace, Carduran XL and Bisop) previous side effects included severe flushing and palpitations……which is why I ditched it…..not really seen these this time around but have the odd tummy issue and itching which I put down to Rosuvastatin which I am also munching 40mlgs of……long story short…..the lecalpin is very effective, more so than the combined others at stabilising my BP at a normal rate so if you can overcome the tummy issue then I believe you are on a winner……but as usual always, consult your doctor…..

hello Jaah, I too have buried a few bp meds over the past 7 years and find Lercanidipine to be the least worst of them all, side effects are similar to yours, palpitations, headache but dissipate after a few hours, mayb keep a simple diary of exactly what you are eating and leave something out every few days and see if there's any change, I haven't heard of that side effect with that drug, best of luck.

Hello JAHH, I’ve been on Lercanidipine for a couple of years and have not had any problems with nausea. Everybody reacts differently to different medications. If you’re on other medications maybe they’re interacting one with another. Perhaps ask your pharmacist if he has an answer

Hi JAHH It may be that your sickness feeling is due to one of the ingredients in your medication? Maybe check out the ingredients list on the information leafket and have a word with the pharmacist. If this is the case you could try a different brand of lercanidipine.
