Well congratulations on losing weight. That's the way to go.
But I don't know your medical history, your height, your family history - so I don't have an answer but I can direct you to the website of Blood Pressure UK, the specialist charity.
By the way I was reading an article the other day to say that most people's diet is very adequate without extra protein supplements. Are you a vegan? The website of BPUK has quite a lot of information about diet.
with my medical history just got high blood pressure and my mom and my brother also have it and my height is 192cm and i still do want loose weight as my bmi is 26 and. i. would like get down to health weight
Family history you can do nothing about, of course, but everything else you can! Once your BMI is in normal range, and you follow the advice given by Blood Pressure UK, I expect your pressures will return to normal or nearly normal.
I lost 28 lbs and exercised regularly, but it didn't seem to make any difference to my BP. Sometimes BP can be stubborn and your doctor needs to find the right way to bring it down to a more acceptable level. Quite often doing that is by trial and error.
Absolutely! My weight is fine, I exercise daily, and eat a low salt diet. But I still have HBP. It took a long time, but I'm finally on a cocktail of drugs that's working. I feel fine. I can't change my family history...I'm just glad there are drugs available to keep me healthy!
There's lots of "hidden" salt in many foods. One example is bread. I spent years having my BP elevated whilst eating loads of bread and didn't even realise how much salt i was eating : (
Best wishes.
Look at your diet…switch from anything omega 6 to omega 3….
Try Olive leaf extract….or flaxseed oil….
Aim for foods that increase nitric oxide in the blood…red beets leafy greens…citrulline or arginine..… ….olive oil….garlic extract…Quercetin…to reduce inflammation.
Most BP problems occur because the muscles that surround major vessels do not relax or there is inflammation within the arteries and veins…
Btw…cut out the protein powder for a week to see if that helps…protein is best from actual foods like fish or chicken….good luck.
salt 0.8g per what? Per litre of dissolved drink? Per spoonful? And why take protein powder for weight loss??? Much better to have natural protein in chicken fish meat.
Most people think losing weight means losing muscle…it is the fat that goes first…muscle only atrophies if you stop using them….and chicken fish…even porridge are good sources of protein….powders sometimes have fillers in.
what is wrong with bp 155 over 90, what will you gain by lowering it further with drugs, just eat well and exercise ,nothing is going to happen to you, dont let the docs scare you to take pills, think what damage they do in the long term,
I have to agree…the pharmaceutical industry lowered the numbers in order to sell more BP medication…remember it used to 100 plus your age for the upper systolic…150-90 is (was) regarded as moderately high…not significant…most Americans fall into that category.
Salt is not as problematic as chronic inflammation caused by foods that the FDA regard as safe…gluten, corn fructose, canola oil,…And any food grown with glycophosphate…
please do not check your blood pressure with a wrist monitor! I checked mine and had extremely high readings to the point I was having panic attacks, called 911 and was taken to ER. The nurse checked my pressure and it was normal but did explain that the wrist monitors were not good. The best is an arm cuff- so now I got one. My readings were always high but when I went to dr visits they were good so she just increased my meds according to my readings. My readings are great so on Nov 11 when I see her will ask if I can change dose but don’t want to take Olmesarten anymore since I have always had all the side effects.
Please invest in an arm cuff blood pressure monitor.
