Should I ask for spironolactone

I've been on a cocktail of HT meds for decades and my BP is still higher than it should be. I also have trouble with low potassium and a strong family history of stroke and early death. I'm wondering if I should ask my gp to change my meds to spironolactone.

Does anyone have any experience of this please?

I was changed to spironolactone 2 months ago due to previous drug causing low potassium. My potassium has greatly improved.

Thanks HeatherR. I think my gp has sort of settled to me having slightly uncontrolled bp and potassium but it's already having an effect on my heart so I might talk to them about it.

As soon as my potassium levels increased the palpitations I was having stopped.Definitely worth having a conversation with GP.🌺
