Concerned about length of prescribed medications and prolonged effects. Amlodopine 10 mg. Losartin 100 mg both for 12 years.

Sorry I don’t quite understand what your question is. When you are on BP medication it is for life. Usually. Maybe though you have improved your lifestyle (diet, exercise) so that you don’t need it, or need lower dose. If you were in the UK I would suggest that you talk to your pharmacist, since part of their function here in the UK is to give a medication review. Probably in the US they won’t do that.

So it’s between you and your doctor.

To prepare yourself for a doctors appointment I suggest the following.

Purchase a BP monitor if you don’t have one already.

Take your BP for one week twice a day morning and evening. On each occasion sit for ten minutes quietly with the monitor already on and ready. Three slow breaths with your eyes closed and NO talking take the first reading and throw it away. Then take three more - write them down and take the average.

Do this twice a day for a week and have these figures ready for your appointment along with information about the amount of exercise you take etc.
