I am 52 and have Cirrhosis, by the time I found out I was mid stage 4. I quit drinking and after several years I have been able to correct my liver some.
My Blood Pressure has always been high, I have cycled through a multitude of blood pressure medications. However, they all kept me right around 155/100. With all the side effects from the medications I decided to research natural remedies. I tried garlic, fish oil And a number of others to no avail. But then I found Nattokanaise or simply Natto. It’s a Japanese herb that’s been around for over a thousand years. My last reading was 135/84 I was amazed! The great thing is that it’s very reasonable in priced and helps with a multitude of other ailments. You do need to be careful With this as it is a natural blood thinner. You should consult your doctor before using this herb. My doctor couldn’t find a lot of info but said “hey if it works” and it does 😊.
Congratulations on your success with your liver problem Milkthistleis, it really is quite an achievement. Thanks for posting about Natto but how do you take this and where do you get it? Are you in the US. I ask because the GPs in the UK would turn their noses up at alternative medications for high BP.
Yes, I understand that but how do you take it? Is it in supplement form and what is it called? I'm interested because I am being treated for high BP and get bad side effects from medication.
My apologies, I read your reply incorrectly. Yes, I am in the US, Northern California (Folsom Ca). Doctors here are not terribly excited about natural remedies here either. I don’t fault them because that is not an area they get trained in. Pharmaceutical companies fund their medical school, that explains a lot right :). I do believe that medical technology and pharmaceuticals have helped cure a lot of people and helped with many ailments. But it doesn’t hurt to integrate some natural resources when available or when pharmaceuticals are not working or causing harm. There is a balance and everything should be looked at with an open mind.
Sorry for the rant, I got away from your question 😁
I take 2000 FU’s of “Doctors best Nattokinase”.
You can find online but I get mine from A local natural foods and herbs store.
I’m in Ireland, and I take vit.k2 , bysolgar, it is made from natto. I take it with calcium for my bones, but I’ve never seen nattoin any other form in this side of the pond. I must look it up.
That's very interesting, I should be taking K2 apparently as I take Vit D3 capsules every day and I have read that for the D3 to be absorbed, you have to take K2. Many thanks for your post. xx
Yes that’s right, the k2, puts the calcium where it’s needed, notcircling around in your blood, causing plaque build up. It costs over thirty euro, but I noticed a difference as soon as I took it. Good luck.
I also take vitamin K2 derived from Natto for my osteoporosis, however, i have not found it to make any difference to my BP. Giving up alcohol on the other hand does bring my P down.
Hi Springcross, I've now researched nattokinase (which is an enzyme) and it does indeed reduce blood pressure. It is different from K2 derived from Natto that I use for my bone health. I may give this a try to help with my BP.
I have been trying to find some time to research this with very little luck 😐. I am super busy right now.
I did do a couple quick google searches and it looks like through the process of taking Natto from fermented soybean solid form to the pill (which I take) the vitamin K is taken out and I believe that is what u take. I haven’t been able to find out why or if this naturally occurs through the process or if they do it on purpose?
I think vitamin K has been touted a good supplement so I may want to start taking it but want to make sure that it is safe with Nattokanaise.
