Side effects
yes i had some muscular pain and also pain in my joints too when i first started it but it soon passed. i also felt dizzy when i got up in the morning, and was sleeping round the clock. its all passed now and i dont really feel any side effects. The doctor did tell me i might get swollen ankles but i did not get that., after 3 weeks everything is normal again except the sleeping took a good bit longer to settle down and iv been on 5mg amlodapine for less than 3 months now and my blood pressure was good after 1 month. i also had memory problems. strangly i feel better since i'v been on the amlodapine as i was so nervous before but i do feel a bit better and not so stressed.
My muscular pain is really bad doc took me off meds and gave me painkillers but even after a week the pain in my legs is really bad only went to docs on Monday but I'm thinking I should go back
yes for peace of mind id definitely go back to the doctors. do you think that the amlodipine brought about this pain? no matter though you should still go back and see the doctor. let us know how it goes. wishing you well. love grace xoxo

have a read of those posts about people suffering musle pain and joint pain due to taking Amodapine.
Hi, I have been on Amlodipine 5mg for 3 months. Never noticed swollen ankles but am suffering joint pain but put that down to my arthritis and a fall I had. I did feel so much better though after a week. However, I do have chest pains and when I am lying down sometimes I have dizzy spells. Am now on Glycerl Trinity spray as of yesterday and am being referred to hospital again. Had a bleed on the brain six months ago so can’t go onto blood thinners. I think it might be worth giving it another week and go and have a chat to your doctor if the swelling doesn’t subside. Good luckx
Yes - I had this but with Nifedipine. It was better when I was switched to Adalat slow release. I also tried Amlodopine but it made my face swell. I take Losartan now with no side effects at all.
Did you ever get your magnesium and potassium levels checked? If you have online medical records you can see how melds affect your blood tests and ask go for advice.
