I am in my mid 70's and recently had my blood pressure tablets changed to Ramipril 5mg a day i have confusion as a few different websites give different advice on pottasium in diet while taking Ramipril.Should i be concerned by the amount of bananas a day and other high pottasium foods that i am eating as i have seen info that mentions that you can get Hyperkalemia while taking Ramipril anyone else heard this interaction too?I don't see anything mentioned in the leaflet.I would appreciate some help.

I would go and discuss your concerns with your GP, the internet is a great source for information, unfortunately it be can be confusing as different sites give different information. This is a particular problem when you require medical advice.
thank you for your kind help and advice i will book an appointment with the GP to discuss it ,it is something the nurse that put me on it never really spoke about.
I have tried many blood pressure meds. and all had side effects, I am now taking Ramipril 7,5mgs so far so good, and I don't seem to have any side effects yet, however people react differently to medication and getting the right one that suits them is trial and error, If you feel ok on Ramipril don't worry to much about what you read but see your Dr. if you start having problems.
I took Lisinopril and that raised my potassium to a very high level, so I was taken off it, It's also a good idea to have regular b/tests.
