In 2009 had pneumonia & multiple bilateral PEs. Approx 10 days before I was taken ill I had a sore throat, daytime chills & horrendous night sweats (but only sweated chest upwards). Was given anti-biotics which seemed to resolve things. Can anyone tell me please if this contributed to or could have been linked with the later pneumonia & PEs?. Have never been given any explanation as to how I ended up with pneumonia as one day OK, next day pneumonia. Doesn't make sense to me. Also concerned as was on holiday at the time & shower in accommodation hadn't been working properly, only spraying fine mist. Know this sounds stupid but wondered if this connected? For info, holiday was in this country, no flights involved. Apologies for length of question but have so many unanswered questions!! Many thanks.

Hi Bigbamwham, i had pneumonia in 2010 as i have copd i thought the breathlessness i was having was due to this, however when i went to the doctor he gave me a letter for the hospital for an x-ray this showed the pneumonia, i was in hospital for five weeks and spent 12 days in intensive care. When the hospital doctor explained again what i had, i said i thought you only got pneumonia through living in damp conditions she said there were different types and what i had was viral meaning you can get it just like getting a cold maybe that's how you got it.
