Hi ,some weeks ago gp gave me frusomide water tabs ,my feet and ankles went down to normal ,so I stopped them as they where making me feel sick,I though I'm sure I was breathing better ,then I thought must be a coincidence, I was sent for ecg heart scan turns out my heart is alright ,feet and ankles soon swelled agian,gp gave me different water tabs my feet and ankles gone down agian, and this time I know I am breathing somewhat better ,my water works are ok ,can anyone give a guess why my breathing is better when taking water tabs ,I am grateful for this just makes me wonder why ,I must tell you my feet are back to normal today ,but they look like wrinkled prunes lol ,hope they iron out ,just think these young people having botox lip fillers what is going to happen when they get old and maybe carnt afford, it omg they will be full of wrinkles,I'm wondering if anything else is going on to make them swell so much, especially as breathing gets little better when on tabs

Hi Alice,

Don't stop taking tablets until the doctor tells you to!

The oedema is caused by your heart, it is one of several side issues that copd will cause you!

It's probably a sign of congestive heart failure, which can lead to what it says, & is potentially serious. 👍💓🇳🇿😍🤗🤙

I don't really know the answer to your question, but I am glad you are feeling better Alice and your ecg was good. . I have had a couple of spells when my feet and ankles have swollen up quite badly, always in hot weather and when I have been over tired. We certainly had our share of hot last month. My ecg was fine and it was suggested I keep my feet up on pillows, day and night. It did the trick quite quickly. Perhaps the water retention is adding pressure on your lungs? Stay well!

Hi i also had to use water tablets for feet and ankles but my respiratory nurse told me they also reduce fluid on the lungs so help your breathing

I was beginning to think it was may be fluid on lungs ,because they help my breathing ,thanks for replying

Will reduce any fluid on your lungs, this is why your breathing was better

Ahh I think that is my answer

Because they are removing excess fluid from your body including lungs so that your organs work better. I am on furosemide but it doesn’t suit everyone, hence the change xx

Hi Alice I’m in frusomide 49 mg in the morning I was starting and stopping them due to bad cramps but my mum said the more water I drank the better, I was also taking a lot of bladder and kidney infection so I’d stop again until it cleared up . So not long ago I was at appointment with urology nurse I happened to mention that I’d stopped the water tablets she actually seemed to go into a panic she said if I stop them the fluid in my body would either go to my lungs or heart when youv got too much fluid you must get rid of it even if youv got a lot of pain passing urine. She said please don’t ever stop taking them again without being put on an alternative tablet. So after our chat about a lot of things she’s ther best iv ever seen . Even agreed with my gp that the pain I get that feels like a kidney infection indeed definitely not coming kidney infection but from muscle around the lungs so I got a great deal of information that day, and when I’m in bed or sitting up my legs are always raised my mum also told me to do this a few years ago and then I was told to do it due to blood clots in my lungs. So keep taking whatever tablets you’re on and keep those legs up when you can 🌷take care.🌹🌹
