Recurring chest infections

Hi everyone, im writing this post because im wondering if anyone else has similar problems. I was diagnosed with copd 8 years ago, i am 63 and i am having ambulatory oxygenn. My problem is that since November 2017 i get a chest infection which clears after taking stand by meds, prednisone and doxycycline, i am ok for a couple of weeks then i get another infection. Ive rang copd nurse and see her next Tuesday 17th April. Im worried about the amount of steroids and antibiotics im taking but it seems they are the only thing that works. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks sue

Thanks shadow, it is worrying but hopefully I'll get some advice from the nurse next week. To be honest ive checked my oxygen levels and they are a good level, just the repeated infections whats getting me down.

I take NAC and daliresp and haven't been to hospital in four years. I think I have had to take antibiotics and steroids three times just to make sure.

Hi what is NAC and daliresp? I've had non stop infections since last September and its getting me really depressed feeling ill all the time.

NAC is a over the counter supplement my lung doctor put me on. The hospital put me on Daliresp as a last resort because I was going to the hospital so much that I developed anxeity and had to have medication for that for a year. I was going to the hospital so much the ambulance company put me on a plan as well where I pay fifty five dollars a year and I don't have a copay from insurance to pay. Don't know what these medications do just know it keeps me out of hospital.

Ok thanks, I'm glad you're feeling a lot better now, it seems to have worked. I'm in the UK so not sure if we have those things here, i'll find out.
