Dear BLF friends,

I am home! 😊✨🌷in my pyjamas writing to you!

I have been feeling poorly since this morning, thought it was the early blood test, my chest infection, the clarithromycin, the after ops..and said to myself I’m going to go home, feet up, green tea and rest!

By 5pm I felt really tired, barely standing, and I thought the GP hasn’t phoned me with the results as he said and so I did, imagine they had been sent to a different doctor, he was waiting..

He has tried to get through to the endocrinologist for guidance without luck and will try again tomorrow.

Anyway my cortisol had still dropped and it was minimal which showed that my adrenal glands insufficiency was critical so I had to take 10mg prednisone straight away, Bea has had to rush to the pharmacy to get some hydrocortisone tablets. They are 10mg capsules, I have to take 3 first thing tomorrow morning instead of the pred and maybe another couple during the day, the GP will let me know.

If I start tummy trouble or fainting Bea has to call the ambulance service. If not I have to live my normal life.

Coping with daily steroids, finding the right dosage etc is difficult but I have followed medical guidance so how did I get to this point, as I said above I must have had too much on my plate.

So poor Bea has been looking after me, checking on the internet, she fed me with avocado, olive oil reduced sugar baked beans, a yoghurt and sugar free liquorice for dessert 😃

It took me ages to eat a few spoonfuls of the mix but I felt so grateful to have such a nice daughter 💕, I certainly didn’t want to disappoint her 😉

I loved to see Aria and the garden with a view, I sat a little outside with her and could feel the sun warming up my legs..

So fingers crossed my dear friends, that being home will make all the difference.

Take care tonight xx

Fran

Oh my LAM sis..💕

I will get better once I am home I am sure.

Worried about you sweetheart..don’t like that swelling on your knee, go and get it seen to promptly. Is it a reaction to some med?? It is bound to affect your general health. Send me a comment once you phone in if you have time.

I am watching some Agatha Christie on BBC iplayer to try to get some sleep as I have received a mail at 0.25 am 😃 from the endocrinologist giving me opposite instructions than the GP. Honestly I don’t know where I am coming or going but I’ll follow the specialist’s advice.

Wrong choice Agatha Christie too exciting! Should have put something boring 😃

So even if I drop off again I’ll keep an eye on your answer by the morning.

Take care lovey, thinking of you as always. 🤞🧚‍♀️💓

Fran xx

Glad you're home - you always get a better night's sleep in your own bed. Hope you improve quickly.

Thank you. She is lovely. Nice to have her home 🌻

Oh poor you - and still it goes on. I hope you’re feeling a bit better this morning. Bea is a star.

I agree with you completely with getting your steroids right. I’m only a year into this adrenal insufficiency thingy and I’ve been taken completely by surprise a couple of times about how quickly your body slows down (can’t think of any other way to describe it!) I’m on the right steroid dose now for a good day, but as soon as I get any sort of infection the adrenal insufficiency kicks in.

It’s quite a grey day here today, not like the beautiful Spring sunshine yesterday. I hope it’s warm enough for you to sit in the sun for a while.

Hi Helen

Yes it is difficult to manage.

When I have a minute I will translate the endocrinologist emails over the last few months. He has been very explanatory.

Oh Fran you are going through it at the moment but you are home now, be kind to yourself and rest. you have a lovely daughter. Take care x x x🌻🌼🌹🌷

Oh dear Fran. I hope you will feel better day by day. You are lucky to have Bea taking care if you and I know you hate feeling so vulnerable. Be patient and enjoy the little pleasures such as the Sun warming you. Take care xx

Poor you, you really have been through the mill. At least you’re home now and hopefully on the up. Take some time, rest, do what the docs tell you let people take care of you while you get better. Thinking of you. X

Wishing you a speedy recovery Fran xxx

Hope things get better soon Fran 🐥🦋🌻🌸 x

Great you're home with your loved ones Fran and being cared for by your wonderful daughter. Hope your recovery goes well and you feel better soon xx

As Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, there's no place like home. Take things very easy till you feel back to normal. Thank goodness you've got such a help in Bea. Love, Sheila x

Glad you are home hopefully with the nice weather to improve things for you.

Thank you for your kind message 😊Thought about it and then I understood the GP meant well, he did phone me this morning to see how I was, he had read the specialist ‘s email and understood the matter. That’s why we have specialists I suppose, they know their stuff. Just took a little while for everybody to get in touch. I had already increased the pred last night as the GP had suggested, didn’t sleep a wink. Luckily I hadn’t started on the hydrocortisone which was supposed to be from this morning..so all well on that score xx

Hope you keep improving day by day sometimes it is an uphill struggle but you are blessed having a loving/supportive daughter XC
