Hello, my husband has similar lung function to you and has a face to face appointment for PIP on Friday. Any pointers would be very helpful. Thank you.

I've had 2 assessments. First was very inaccurate the 2nd was fine. They seem to exaggerate the 'informal observations'. For example 'he did not use his inhaler'. 'Stood unaided' and things like that. So if you need to, make sure he uses his inhaler or tell them it was used before entering. They tend to use the chairs without arms in waiting area to see if you get up without help. Use the arms (if there) or back of the chair. If you help your partner get mucus up I E patting his back to break the mucus. This is therapy make sure it's noted. The correct term is postural drainage. At my first one I told them I have a full licence but no longer drive. On report she put 'can drive' so answer that question as I don't drive. They are watching and noting from the start. Thank you for replying so quickly! That is useful - seems crazy that you have to go to such lengths. My husband has just turned 64 so if he doesn't get PIP this time, I doubt he will as it takes so long to go through the process, it would appear.
