My advice is not to Google anything until you have consulted your GP. I get swollen ankles and have to wear support hosiery which helps.

Like pergola I use the sexy socks to combat swollen ankles. I also use water tablets. Most of the time they are not really a problem. Try to stay away from Dr Google - from fit to dead in three clicks!

Definitely check with Dr. I had swollen ankles and ignored it, turned out I had heart failure.

Swollen ankles often goes with the territory with COPD, but yes, get your GP's opinion. Cutting back on salt in your diet might help too.

We were away on holiday a couple of years ago and my anckle started to swell on day two, day three it was really painful and I didn't want to make a fuss as we were on holiday so I kept taking painkillers. By day five my foot was so swollen I could just about move my toes and blisters started forming and the swelling went into my leg. We came home and went straight to hospital when I discovered I had thrombosis. I was kept in and had scan and discovered I had blood clot in left lung and my foot had become gangrene . I ended up staying in hospital a week having antibiotics and my foot was in such a bad way. When I came home I still couldn't ballence properly on my foot as I only have one foot. The district nurse didn't like the look of it. Anyway I went back to hospital for further treatment. I ended up going to coagulation department each week for injections for blood clot. Nightmare didn't come close. So always get swollen feet checked.😐

Oh dear that sounds awful, hope you are OK now! I'm seeing doctor tomorrow morning. The swelling is not too bad in the morning but gradually gets worse during the day, hope the doc can give me some help.

Oh yes I'm fine now thankyou but at the time it was scary. It's good to get checked out, if I had seen a doctor on holiday I would have saved all that back home. But no I wanted to ignore it, even though my husband kept on about it. All the best to you Angie, let us know how you get on ? ✋️😊

d my appointment with the Doctor, I had a knock to my leg on the bone and I decided to get the nurse to look at it and was told it wasn't infected but because the skin lifted, (my skin is very thin and fragile) things were not improving so I have several appointments to have it dressed at the surgery. The Nurse felt that the ankle swelling s were not due to the injury! and suggested I see my Doctor. The long and short of it is my Doctor feels it is due to the injury but has requested blood samples and a (dopplar) never heard of it. The swelling has gone down somewhat, moreso in the leg without the injury. We shall see what the blood tests etc. come up with.
