Ambulances

Does anyone know the answer to this question.

My local hosp is only 20mins away, yet l am under another hosp 30mins away in the other direction. I suffer from bronchiolitis, and this hosp is best to deal with it. Should l have to call an ambulance out, being in the same county of Kent, could l be taken there. My local have no notes, as l have never from the start been involved with them.

Know l can refuse to go to my local, yet l understand the crew have a duty of care to see you get the best possible care .

I can only go on my own experiences - we have a similar problem. My husband suffers with severe COPD and each time he has been taken into hospital via ambulance the ambulance crew have explained that we will be going to the specialist chest hospital rather than the closest one - even when it was a kidney stone problem! Thank you, ur info has helped a lot. Fingers crossed l will never need them. Hubby is hard of hearing, so if l can explain prior should it be needed, it would help.

The paramedics have always asked me which hospital I use and luckily, I have been able to answer but they do have access to hospital records via their control room so they soon sort it....unless your chosen hospital is closed to receiving new admissions.

We live near to one hospital but it is a really difficult journey but have another further away but just a hop on and off the motorway. When my husband had appendicitis the paramedics asked which he would rather go to and it was not a problem at all.

Hi pammilla just seen your post I do think the ambulance that's called has a medical duty to bring you to correct hospital for your condition, in note you live in kent so do I what is your local hospital, if you don't mind me asking, Annette
