I joined Atos in September 2010 as a full-time disability analyst, as an employee rather than as a sub-contracting doctor.
I worked exclusively on Disability Living Allowance (DLA) assessments until April 2011, when I starting doing Work Capability Assessments (WCA) for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). From the summer of 2011 I was doing a mixture of DLA, ESA and War Pension assessments, plus some mentoring of other healthcare professionals as a 'Mental Health Champion'.
WCAs for ESA took up less than half my time until September 2012, when I went part-time and from then on did mostly WCAs. It was in this phase that my misgivings about the WCA intensified. This was particularly true from January 2013 onwards. I resigned in February and worked out my notice period of 12 weeks up until 1 May 2013.

I don't want to dishearten people out there, but this is just one Doctor shouting out about what he has seen, the government will not take any notice, why should they don't have friends, family loved ones who need the care and support and help, who need the disability living allowance, who need the nurse the doctor, the paramedic.
I wish I was wrong, but the truth is those who have all the money can look and walk away or even go on holiday to a sunny island and leave their cares and worries at someone else's expense namely those who least can afford it.
NO I AM SORRY but ATOS is here to stay, it makes money out of the poor of this country and those who suffer in health.
By the way whistle blowers I love them please someone hand them a megaphone, even if the government will not change it's mind let them have a headache.
