Hi everyone...I would like some advice about how to cope with stress and having an Aortic Root and ascending aneurysm. To tell the truth iam not coping at all with chest tightness after doing activities after a little while, this situation has made life really difficult to cope with, Gardening, walking and even trying to do DIY around the home, is getting difficult, I have a GTN spray with me all the time just in case I need it, I have never used it so far but to tell you the truth, iam scared to take it...Please I just need some support with this matter. Thanks for listening.

Hi Jayjay, we have identical conditions, I’m a little older than you. You need to speak with a heath professional as from my understanding you should not have any symptoms as you describe from this condition. It could be meds you are on causing these pains and restrictions. A lot of bp meds have wiped me out and I won’t take them.

You should do be able to live quite normally with your aortic condition.

Not in anyway playing down the seriousness of this but from my experience and research its not restrictive as you describe.

👍

Your health professional has prescribed a GTN spray for you to use when you need it. Whilst it does come with side effects like a headache, you will only find out if they affect you if you try it. And if it reduces your symptoms you might find that it reduces your stress levels too, and improves your quality of life.

Hi Jayjay have you tried the British Heart Foundation helpline? . The nurses are really helpful and reassuring if you need someone to talk to. Details on the BHF site Lexi

Hi there, I have already spoken to them about the symptoms I have been experiencing. The BHF nurses have explained because I have an Aortic Root and ascending aneurysm the heart have to work much harder than usual with any actives, light-headedness and chest heaviness always happening, when I got to see my cardiology consultant on the 6th February I told them the experiences I have been getting, the cardiology consultant don't think it's the aneurysm causing the issue, iam waiting for a ct scan to see if I have angina or not, I have been having these issues since March 2023. This why I can't understand, BHF nurses are saying most likely the cause of these symptoms comming from having an aneurysm but the cardiology consultant saying not likely. . That's why I ask could stressful situations have a link between what I have been experiencing, iam just going around in circles with this situation
