I had a Stent put in Lad in last august. Start of February I had a HA caused by blockage in Circumflex.Artery no sign of a problem last august. All built up in six months. My cholesterol is normal and am correct weight non smoker and don't drink. Anyone else has this? Now due for.MRI. Worried that I will have another blockage.

did they find the cause of plaque build up?

No. The Consultant was unable to give a reason for this sudden build up maybe something will come up in the MRI. It's apparently unusual, which is why I wondered if anyone else has this happen.

I had a HA Oct’22 and stent fitted to circumflex artery and 3 months ago I had a echocardiogram followed by a stress cardiac MRI and the latter whilst not painful is most claustrophobic during the 75mins I was in the scanner. All results were good and my LVEF was 65% and the RVEF 66% .

Hi, I had a similar experience. I don’t smoke, am slim, have a healthy active lifestyle, sleep well and eat a predominantly plant based diet. I have inherited CAD and received 1 stent in June 2023. I then had an NSTEMI in October 2023 and received a further two stents ( 1 because an artery tore). The surgeon asked me, quite aggressively, after the procedure if I had been taking my medication ( I had) and if I had been smoking ( I hadn’t)! So he was clearly puzzled too.

I can only assume that the second artery was borderline for stenting in June so the first surgeon left it, or perhaps it was too difficult a procedure? I have a ridiculously high calcium score which might suggest the latter.

Please let us know how you get on.

Good luck,

Yisselda

Thanks for your reply. I have seen the film taken in August when I had my first angioplasty and it shows slight amount of plaque in the circumflex the film after the current stent shows blockage and according to doctors letter it ruptured. It's a bit of a mystery, hopefully when I have the MRI it will reassure me that it's not likely to happen again. I was also asked if I had been taking my pills. Fortunately my Consultant is good at.showing and explaining the the videos, quite fascinating. Just rather wish it wasn't me!

It’s good that you have a consultant who gives you time. Make the most of that as they are the experts. My first encounter with my consultant was rushed because he was late, but for the second appointment I went fully prepared with more knowledge and everything I wanted to discuss written down. It was a much more productive meeting.

I hope you have good news from your MRI.
