Cardiac Ablation failure - what next?

Diagnosed with heart failure 2021 and treated with drugs and cardioversion.

All good until last year when I had to come off amiodarone because of thyroid issues which are now resolved.

Had Cardiac Ablation and Cardioversion in November, initially worked well, but irregular heartbeat has returned, confirmed by ECG at GP surgery.

I feel awful, struggling to get upstairs because of breathlessness but can’t get a cardio appointment until the end of May.

Any idea what they’ll try next?

From my understanding, Cardio Ablation isn't always successful long term on the first attempt, its likely that they will be willing to try again to see if this time around it will be more successful

That's my understanding as well.

hi in my experience I’ve had 2 cardio version and 2 cardio ablation in last year

All have been short lived and I’m also medication intolerant.

I’m living with AFib and racing heart 24/7

On urgent list for further ablation but my hospital can’t give me a date could be months. I have low blood pressure which I’m finding through others is a common factor with others who have not had success. I’m blood group O neg which is more resistant to infection viruses . Colds etc. less prone to blood clots. Less likely to have heart attack ( although they found that I had a heart attack some time inthe past when they ablated Jan 25) I’ve always been fit and healthy until Jan 24

Would be interested to see what blood group you are ? And blood pressure high or low

I’m now classed as complex case waiting for futher ablation using new technology using Optrell mapping catheters which are all computerised only approved for use October 24. It’s proved more successful in trials. I’m told by my consultant surgeon the more times ablated the better the success rate
