Good morning all, I was recently diagnosed with Early Dilated Cardiomyopathy. This happened not long after purchasing our first house, stupidly, no life insurance was taken out before I had my medical issue, I was wondering if anyone has been able to get life insurance after they have been diagnosed with a medical condition, if so, who with.

to me, this is interesting! Until I retired was a life assurance underwriter. Meaning, that if you had applied to my company I would have assessed your application with the help of a report from your doctor and decided whether to take on the risk and at what price, or whether I would ask a reassurer to absorb part of the risk and what price they might charge.
my suggestion is to go to the website of British Insurance Brokers Association and from this find a broker, then go from there
Good luck.

Hi, happyrosie1. Thank you for your reply. It's becoming increasingly frustrating as most sites I have visited seem to reject me based on my selecting that I have a heart condition. Not one has requested further information.
I will take a look at them now fingers crossed someone will be willing to help
Many insurers might take he view that until a certain length of time has passed since your cardio diagnosis (say one year for example) they do not wish to offer life cover. A broker would be able to find out for you.
from your feedback, I've just spoken to a broker listed on the British Insurance Brokers Association, they have pretty much confirmed what you just mentioned, although he mentioned they would normally like to see two MRI scans. I did discuss that at the moment I'm classed as having Early Dilated Cardiomyopathy which he isn't sure if that would make a difference, although hes finding out for me. Pretty comforting speaking with people that seem to know what they are talking about
