Pacemaker After Effects

Hi I had a pacemaker fitted in December. I recently had my 8 week check up which was all good. However, I keep getting an odd feeling which I can only describe as bubbling/butterfly sensation. I did mention it at my check up and the noticed it happened but there is no follow up. It is worse when I lie down. Has anyone else experienced this and if so did it settle down?

Thank you

Do contact your pacing clinic immediately! They can arrange a walk-in appointment and check the sensors, and make adjustments. They can also call your cardiologist for more details if required.

I too had butterfly sensation when my pacemaker was first fitted in February 2011. At my first follow up appointment I mentioned it, some adjustments were made, and everything was fine-butterflies we’re gone. Have had replacement pacemaker in December 2020 and no butterflies. Please don’t worry (easy to say) as it is a fixable problem. Wishing you all the best. I know I felt so much better after having my pacemaker even with the butterflies!

I've had that or something like it occasionally since getting the PM, mentioned it at a check-up and was reassured it's of no significance. By the way there are a couple of groups on Facebook for people with PMs, one UK specific, lots of questions and answers in there.

I have a pacemaker for four years now Occasionally had the weird feeling like tremors ect I checked my radial pulse at the time and it was a short attack of Atrial Fibrillation that only lasted a minute or two This was confirmed on my annual check up,they could see exactly when this happened .I was told it was nothing to worry about unless it went on for hours, which it rarely does .Now I don’t even know I have a pacemaker it’s there but giving me no problems I hope this helps

Hi there, I had a pacemaker in Feb 2000 and a biventricular pacemaker in December 2021 and I can understand your problems. I had a new symptom which not exactly like yours- it was a thumping sensation just below the newer pacemaker whic lasted for few seconds and I knew it was cardiac related, Co-incicdentally I had a recent pacemaker check and mentioned the new synptom to the technician. She said she will pass the ECG to the consultant for further interpreation. I am waiting to hear from him. As somebody else mentioned it would be wise yo contact the heart center. Regards
