I had a pacemaker inserted 21 May Which went ok but at end of it there was a swelling and Dr xrayed it from bed was ok I was kept in overnight as it was late fternoon early hours of morning I noticed blood on the pad and nurse had a look at it said it was spotting. Was told by nurse who was looking after me the swelling was squashyand said it was blood. Had pacemaker Dr come and xrayed.the radiologist took an X-ray of swelling. Went back to ward and got ok to go home but told to take pad off fri which I did. Put a clean dressing on till sun then mon night got a horrible pain thought it was because of surgery yesterday I noticed a swelling and it got worse. Rang my Dr and had to go and see her last night she got in touch with a cardiologist who told Dr that I should put preSsure on it and my Dr asked if I had had a pad so have put the I pad on the swelling seems to be there a little.im on clopidogril and rivarauxaban I was taken off the rivarauxaban from 18-21 and kept on clopidogril for the insertion of pacemaker.
Has anyone experienced this when they’ve had a pacemaker inserted and if so what did they do. I had, to monitor the swelling in case it went bigger it hasn’t.

Sorry I haven’t replied before now. I had a drs apt last thurs as I had been on clopidogril for a year and was coming off it but had see dr as rivarauxaban was being upped to 20mg he had a look at the swelling and said it was ok that the swelling I’d had was a blood clot. I am ok but not sure whether my pacemaker has moved but go back. To hospital in a couple of weeks.
It just felt different and looked as if it had moved when I look at it in mirror. It seems to have taken ages to heal it’s four weeks on tues and still sore. I’ve always been a quick healer. I can see the shape of the pacemaker it could be as the swelling has gone down a lot.
I Go on 1 July. It eased off a lot but I did have a blood clot under the cut presume this was because of the medication clopidogril. Thanks for the reply.
My mom's plaster is off and she's just had her first pacemaker battery check after discharge. Thankfully all on track. Next follow up with the doctor in Aug.
