Tooth extraction

Hi, I have been on Ramipril for many years and had a tooth extraction last year. Not a nice experience I know but I did my mouth rinses with salt water as instructed and it certainly did help. Good luck. You have my every sympathy
Thankyou for replie it's just l have seen a lot of stuff on google saying it's dangerous to have tooth extractions while on blood pressure meds
Hmmm. Much of the population ove over fifties is on this sort of medication, if we all avoided tooth extraction we would be in a lot of pain! I worry about Dr Google sometimes, do you know where the information actually comes from and is it supported by adequate scientific enquiry?
I’d say the best person to ask would be the dentist, as they would know.

Yes l think your right thankyou
My dentist will not do anything surgical until i check with my consultant. If it involves injection or abstraction. He can do a filling without anaesthetic if I can take it. Depends how desperate I am 🤔
After checking I would have to come off blood thinners for 48 hrs.
We are all different and it’s always best to check, never take some else’s experience it’s not safe to assume
Good luck
I required an extraction 6 months ago and my dentist was reluctant to do it until I had confirmation from my cardiology as to whether I needed antibiotics cover after the extraction. I am also on Ramipril. Not sure if it's the same for everyone but they said I don't need cover but the dentist gave it me anyway and I had no problems. This is probably not much help but I would contact your GP or cardio people. Good luck 👍
Hi,
Ramipril was not an issue. My dentist had me stop ticagrelor 3 days before hand and resume once a firm clot had formed. I had no issues whatsoever.
Good luck.

I’m on ramipril and a host of other meds. I didn’t have any issues with dental removal. I think I even stayed on apixaban. Hope all goes well for you and your tooth issues are sorted.
My wife is a recently retired dentist. She says there is no issue if it’s just ramipril and hypertension.
If you have or have had a problem with a valve, you are best to have a big dose of antibiotics about an hour before treatment. You detest would advise on that.
No issues here
I had one extraction whilst on lisinopril and ticagrelor, dentist said there was no need to pause taking them, afterwards she simply kept me in the chair for 10 minutes with a pad on the extraction wound, pad was removed and waited another 5 minutes without, once she was happy all was well I was allowed to leave. No problem whatsoever. You must tell your dentist you're on theses meds so they can make the decision and take the precautions.
Sorry forgot to say zi am o ramipril also as well as aspirin
I have unfortunately had 2 double teeth removed on different occasions whilst on Ramapril . Happy to report I had no problems at all. Good luck
