Since I started with episodes of At Fib three years ago, the advice was to do something about it before it gets worst. I am on medication with Apixaban, Bisoprolol and in two occasions Amiodarone, when it was really bad.
My wonderful cardiologist of 15 years has retired. I feel completely lost. Thinking on going privately. There are several directories online and I found a few cardiologists that are specialist in Mitral valve.
My local hospital doesn't have a Mitral valve specialist in the cardiologist department and I was wondering if someone here could recommend one. I live in the south east. Today I feel well, but travel far for appointments when I am in Atrial Fibrillation feels impossible.

My partner was referred by Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge) to the mitral valve specialist team at neighbouring Royal Papworth, if you're close to that area and are able to look into the specialists there I am certain you would find a suitable team.
You should be yes, I personally found the BHF helpline very useful for any questions I had so I also recommend them should you have any questions too, the nurses have so much knowledge and understanding. All the tests, pre-op, surgery, aftercare from Papworth was top notch, and knowing they had a mitral valve specialist team was fantastic. We are in Essex and were referred there, perhaps if you're in the catchment area it would also work for you. You will find a lot of helpful advise and opinions on here from others who have had similar procedures at other hospitals so I really hope you can be referred to a suitable cardiologist team very soon.
that is very helpful and kind from you. thank you for your words. yes, I was thinking about asking the nurses, I will write an email too. want to know everything and be prepared while i am well enough. have a lovely day and weekend!
Hi Lovefrance, wonderful to hear from you and thank you for the good wishes. I am glad you were taken care by a good team. I will be all right. I was a bit panicky.
