severe/critical aortic stenosis

Good morning everybody,

My first post on the board so please forgive me for any faux pas.

Just received a diagnosis of severe/critical aortic stenosis after being referred to a local angina clinic.

can’t see anything specific about severe/critical vs severe. Just wondering if anybody has had that term used and any timelines for OHS?

Received a cardio angiogram on Wednesday to inspect the coronary arteries and it failed abysmally due to the pressure within the valve making the catheter uncontrollable! So on to a CT scan now.

Thanks

you are likely to be given a replacement aortic valve pretty soon.

That’s good, less time to worry about it.

You generally have three outpatient tests then the op.

I had my three tests as an inpatient, which is ideal. But not the norm.

It’s a good time of the year, you will be recovering in the spring/early summer. Ideal.

My diagnosis was severe but never mentioned critical.

thanks Sooty,

It’s just been a strange experience as I haven’t seen an actual Cardiac Consultant yet (except for the cath lab surgeons).

I didn't see mine until after my angiogram and probably about 2 month before surgery. After that I think I saw him once after surgery.

don’t know how to put this but I was told mine was severe, they withheld the critical part from me.

I was told to go home the week before Xmas and was given an early January op date. This was brought forward and I was operated on early January.

It is not for me to tell you how severe this is but you need to talk to your consultant as soon as possible.

By the way all went well.

thanks Caseiro,

I realise that the op needs to be done sooner rather than later but there has been a lack of general information and contact other than the initial letter following the echo.

Hopefully I’ll get something this week.
