Has anyone struggled with loss of appetite and weight loss on Dapagliflozin? I am asking on behalf of someone else wh is having problem with this and getting no suggestions or answers from doctors or pharmacist.

Practical suggestions from experience would be helpful

I’ve been on Dapagliflozin for a few years now and haven’t had those side effects. I wish I did as it would help me lose weight.

Be careful what you wish for you may not like it if you get it

I have lost weight using this drug. To me, that’s a bonus but to others that might be a problem. I wouldn’t say it’s affected my appetite tho.

I’ve taken this drug for several years and it’s not had any side effects. I take it as a type 2 diabetic the aim is to pee more and as a result pee out sugar so the main side effect which I’ve fortunately not had is thrush.

I’d suggest it’s something else your friend is taking

my husband was prescribed it for supporting his heart failure

Unfortunately for him he became very poorly on it - extreme loss of appetite, stomach cramping, sickness and rapid loss weight - he was already slender

A drug given to him to improve life was stripping him of life and he had to come off it

A fantastic drug for many but not for my husband

I have taken this drug for several years for heart failure. At first I lost half stone by peeing a lot, that has stopped it now no longer affects me. My appetite isn’t very good at the moment but it’s not caused by that. I have other things going on now, like arrhythmias.

Hi Fishonabike

I have lost weight since I started taking dapagliflozin. Found lots of small plates rather than a regular sized meal suits my poor appetite. I always eat when I feel hungry sometimes 4pm in the afternoon!! Eat nuts ,chocolate . The GP recently reduced my Bisololoprol which also had depressed my appetite that has helped.

And did you find anything which helped other than not taking Dapagl. ?

for me it was the opposite, significant weight loss and a large increase in hunger. Hope you get it worked out. Best wishes
