Hi I have just been diagnosed with afib. First episode was Nov 2023 due to gall bladder sepsis and pneumonia. Then another one in Jan this year and one yesterday triggered by a back massage !! I'm prescribed Bisoprolol. Big learning curve for me and just trying to get my head around this and keep things in perspective, it's not easy when you've always enjoyed good health but I guess that's the joy of getting older. I wanted to join your group to enable me to talk to others who can understand what I'm going through and maybe get some support going forward 😊 many thanks x

Hi and welcome to the group. I was diagnosed with afib and a leaky mitral valve six years ago. I was sixtyseven then and never had any serious health problems other than having a hysterectomy twelve years earlier. Despite the diagnosis I hasn't realised I had a serious health problem, I felt well and had ignored the rare brief incidences of palpitations. I was immediately prescribed anti coagulants and will take them indefinitely; my mitral valve was replaced four years ago. I think it is as much a shock mentally as physically and a reminder not to take good health for granted.
I assume you've had an ecg and seen a cardiologist or waiting for appointments so good luck.
