Even my GP could not access these! That was a few years ago so things may have changed but at the time he was really peeved that the docs. could not access them.Ask about from your cardio. or his/her secretary.

Yes. You can get access to all results and images of echos , ECGs , MRI etc on a memory stick/ CDROM/ from your NHS hospital on request , but not generally online. You need to put in a request for the specific records that you want at the hospital from the Records Service.

You won't get them on the day of request , it usually takes a few weeks or more depending on the amount of records you want copies of.

It also depends on how much information you are requesting, and the amount of printing or other supplies and work required for your request as to whether it is free or it has a nominal charge. Each hospital has different guidelines for charges.

Yes, I have gotten mine before on a CD (though I'm in Ireland, not the UK).

No harm in asking is there?

As far as I'm aware you are free to ask for your records but you have to pay for them and have to wait to receive them.

Under the Freedom of Information legislation you are able to request copies of any or all of your records from the health authority/hospital trust

Often this means applying to the Patient Records Department and could involve an online or in person request - it takes time and records can come in different formats depending on who provides them

Check the hospital trust website for Patient Records or FOI

I don't think you can?

You can if you write to the hospital, I forgot the name of the Department but if you ask a Cardiology secretary she will tell you where to write to but she can't just send you them personally

I believe under the "access to medical rights act", you can gain access to all of your medical records, with the only proviso being that if your doctor believes you seeing them would affect your health, they can hold them back, but if you know that, then it would worry you anyway. They could make a charge too but that's up to them.

Thank you for answer.

When the request is for your own records it’s a subject access request rather than a freedom of information request.

Yes that's why I said it was the access to medical rights act, not freedom of information, which is a different law altogether.
