if you’ve been having symptoms of something that your doctor needs to know about then yes. But if this is simply a machine that you’ve purchased, would you be able to persuade the doctor that something needs investigating? Was it a machine that the doc recommended you to have?

Hi, yes the GP recommended it.

KardiaAlive devices are approved by NICE for the monitoring of certain conditions such as AF. To my knowledge, they are not yet approved as a diagnostic tool in their own right.
My wife’s KardiaAlive6L device detected her paroxysmal AF. A subsequent 12 lead ECG was reviewed by 2 GPs who concluded she did not have AF. A couple of months later the results of a 14 day holter monitor confirmed what the KardiaAlive device had detected.
My wife’s cardiac consultant looked at the 14 day holter monitor trace and said it was an unusual AF presentation which the majority of GPs would not have seen whilst in training.
In my view, we will see more of these devices playing a key role in our health monitoring: eg, Apple EarPods and audiology tests.
Post PCI I check my hearts health with my KardiaAlive6L and my iWatch, take my blood pressure and pulse rate if I feel rough. They give me reassurance. On odd occasions when they indicate possible issues I contact the GP or head for A&E, the test results have always been well received. I always rest for at least five minutes before taking the readings to let everything calm down, seems to work for me.
Regardless of whatever machine you have used, any abnormal rhythm should be checked out.
Thank you for all the comments, folks.
