I have Familial hypercholesterolemia and heart disease, but quite regularly I get a burning sensation in my chest to the left in the same precise spot each time. I always ignore this and carry on but recently wondered if it could be heart related? I wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. Thank you.

Burning sensation in left of chest

You need to contact the GP and get it checked properly. If it's just a burning sensation, when does it happen?
After food , if you haven't eaten for sometime , or when you lie down?
That could indicate acid reflux or GERD which people with FHc can commonly suffer.
Do you take an antacid or PPI?
If not you might need something to help if the pain is coming from the stomach.
Are you on statins and eating a low fat diet?
Are you having pain or other symptoms as well?
You can't be sure , however, if it's stomach or cardiac related symptoms and as a new symptom it needs properly assessing to get the right treatment and to rule out more serious causes so you should contact the GP for an urgent appointment, and remind the receptionist of your heart disease history.
Hope things are ok , Bee
Thank you for your reply. It was really informative and helpful. I will take your advice. Thank you once again.
Hi, you have had a fulsome reply from Blearyeyed so I will only add that my heart attack took the form of a hot feeling in my upper chest area. So, although acid reflux is a common cause, it is important to note that, especially in women, it can be cardiac related. It definitely would be a good idea to get it checked out.

I am pleased that you have an appointment Happypainter. Please let us know how you get on.
I too have an inherited condition. Currently, I am keeping very well, thank you. I exercise, keep predominantly to a plant based diet and ensure I take time to read and paint every day.
Good luck to you.
