Angry Dogs since Heart Operation

Hi this may seem random!! Since I had my bypass operation 3 years ago small dogs especially have been very very aggressive to me, I have been bitten three times. It happens nearly 90% of the time with them and it's causing me stress.

I am on Omeprazole, aspirin, statins and tamuflosin.

Has anyone else experienced this at all ? I can't believe it's a coincidence, I'm assuming I am giving off some smell that dogs can pick up and it's causing this issue!!

Thanks in advance

Wow! That is intriguing. I regret that I have nothing to offer in terms of experience. However, i don't doubt that dogs can pick up so much more than we know. I wonder if you have a sense of vulnerability since your op and that's what they sense?

I don't feel that I do but the subconscious is an unusual thing! They are definitely sensing something and at quite a large distance before I am even anywhere near them

Random very!!! Maybe after the first time you were bitten, when you saw a small dog, they sensed you were frightened. Maybe your not giving of a smell but an emotion. I would be amazed if it was something you are taking, everyone of us on this forum would experience this. Remember your bigger than a small dog. Head high, look straight ahead, ignore them.🤗

The dogs are probably reacting to your body language. Are you staring at them, making eye contact perhaps? 👀

Quite the opposite now, I totally ignore them, usually because they have already started even before I get anywhere near them

Interesting thread.

There's lots on the Web about dogs detecting illnesses and being sensitive to human odours. Now you mention your situation, I think that since my TAVI 18 months ago, more dogs may have come up to sniff at my lower trousers legs, then backed away and started barking. (I do a lot of walking in the countryside.) Some owners say it's the floppy hat I wear on some walks that their dogs don't like, but it also happens when I'm not wearing it. (When nearing a dog - or horse - I've always been careful to push my map case from my chest to behind my back because it can reflect the sun.)

A few small dogs do jump up my legs in what I take to be gestures of friendliness. I don't mind this, but I wasn't amused when eight days after my TAVI a large dog, not on a lead, jumped up at my chest.

On the other hand, immediately after the op I stayed with a cousin for five days, just in case, and he had a friendly and docile Labrador.

I'm on Ramipril, statins and Clopidogrel.

Thanks for that, no issues with Labradors etc for me even alsatians are fine it just seems to be small dogs!I do a lot of walking as well so it's usually out in the countryside I come across this.

My husband was bitten by a dog recently while jogging. It never occurred to me that it could be something to do with his body scent which must be affected by the cocktail of drugs he now takes. He has been jogging nearly every day though for over 18 months and this is the first time it’s happened although some (but not all) do bark at him. Food for thought.

Not all bark at me, large dogs especially don't seem bothered at all but smaller dogs especially do. Be interesting to see if it continues for him.

My neighbours dog who I have known for years suddenly went mad snarling at me the other week it totally freaked them out as it had never done it ever before

Hi, You could get into fancy dress and look like a wolf. That will sort the little monkey's out.

To add to my previous post: I like dogs and when I meet one, I look at it in a friendly way and don't mind being sniffed at; in fact, I'm a little disappointed when they ignore me! As others have mentioned, it's the smaller dogs that start barking. Hardly ever have I felt at risk of being bitten. (More than fifty years ago, a Jack Russell did nip me on my bare calf as I cycled slowly through a small village.)

Same here I love dogs as well, or I used to! Even my neighbours dog who I have known for years went at me, it freaked my neighbours out as they have never seen it do that.

My sister's dog a cockapoo who used to sit on my lap all the time now won't even let me stroke her. It's all very weird

I’m on all four of those drugs and I have frequent contact with small dogs and no problems at all.

Really fascinating as I have a similar issue. Seems to be larger dogs with me, just bark aggressively at me as I pass by, even seeing me through a window walking past. Only been happening over the last few years, I have no idea what it is they detect but I know we all give off some kind of 'biofield' energy that possibly they sense. Not necessarily from the drugs but something to do with our body's change with health issues? From google AI ''A biofield is an energy field that surrounds living organisms and may affect their health. '' Will keep looking into this, thanks for your post!
