Scheduled to have angioplasty at end of week with possible stent if needed. Worrying about the whole thing . Not to sure how many stents are needed possibly two. Reading on this site about a STEMI procedure is this the same as angioplasty or something different. Being done as a day case with early start of 8.30 any idea how long procedure takes. Thank you

Have you had a pre op appointment because usually 2 weeks before the procedure you have an appointment where you get to ask any questions about the procedure but what I do understand is an angioplasty for scents is longer than just an angiogram but I would give the secretary a call and they will ask the consultant to call you and they will help put your mind at rest

Mine was scheduled for an hour. I think the angioplasty is half an hour, then another half hour for the stents. In my case they stopped after half an hour and said a bypass would be better than stents. The bypass was done 3 months later.

The triple bypass was exactly 3 years ago. One I got over the operation I have been fine.

Hi. Not long. You will be home for your afternoon tea. They usually go in through your right wrist under local sedation. You will be fully awake and can watch it on the screen. Good luck.

All over and done with - all done without sedation or painkillers. Went through wrist in the end so for a few seconds - as consultant told me, assume ten bee stings which I think was about right. Over and done with in minutes and watched it on screen. Only real problem is that I have the most terrible veins and trying to get access to those and arteries took several attempts think it was six managed to get access so several holes in arms and wrists managed to get baby one in. They were so apologetic and just lovely so well looked after, tea, coffee and biscuits and sandwich at lunch time,. Had a few pressure dressings but certainly nothing to worry about. Had it done last Friday and took last dressing off today. Rather bruised but results state no plaque/blockages found of concern - did have a little build up of plaque but told by consultant it was the amount she would expect t for my age. I worried myself stupid before procedure so feel a real fool now, keep well everyone.
