I was on Plavix and aspirin for 9 months after a stent. I had such bad side effects my cardio took me off. After two weeks I am experiencing very achy sore muscles especially around my shoulders and neck. and fatigue. Has anyone else experienced withdrawal symptoms when stopping antiplatelet medication ?

Withdrawal symptoms when stopping Plavix

I was on Ticagrelor 90mg for two years then 60mg for a further two years. October 2024 finished the course had no side effects.
I am super-cautious about coming off drugs after spending time in the hospital for just stopping a BP medicine (lisinopril). I also am on ticagrelor 90mg but for only 6 months so far. But I will research thoroughly the weaning before I stop the drug --to be definitely sure there will not be a problem. . My experience is that doctors do not always know.
Yes I was also on ticagrelor for 7 months and had so many side effects the doc took me off and put me on clopidgrel (Plavix) for two months and now I’m off totally. Still feeling a lot of body aches since coming off the antiplatelet meds. Hoping it will be temporary and go away soon. I researched it and it does seem that body aches and muscle soreness can be a withdrawal symptom but it’s not common.
DJ--Thank you. As I suspected, withdrawal from either clopidgrel or ticagrelor may have to by weaned off carefully. I still have 6 or 12 months before I stop ticagrelor, and with have it figured out by then. But regardless of what the doctor say about 'just stopping it', I will carefully reduce the dosage over a 2 week period, unless the drugest suggests a long period.
