Sorry you are feeling rough, be gentle with yourself. If you've got a bad shoulder you know yourself you probably shouldn't have started moving about furniture, no matter how much it was annoying you.

Shoulder pain can radiate down into the chest , just as chest pain can radiate to the shoulder, and moving the weight around probably caused more shoulder inflammation which would have triggered more cardiac symptoms. You may also have caused inflammation in your chest or rib muscles from the activity, so the mild pain today would continue to give you nightly chest symptoms.

And yes, constipation can increase all different cardiovascular symptoms because of the stress and strain it causes.

Have you tried something other than paracetamol?

If you need codeine , you might need to make changes in your diet and increase water intake or get a temporary treatment for the constipation while you take codeine to help prevent that problem being a trigger.

But hey, at least you found some jellybeans ❀️

Bribe a big human to do the furniture moving for you with your jellybeans next time πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Give yourself some rest and I'll have my fingers crossed you get over the shoulder issue soon too, take care , Bee

I think holiday escape meant the reply below for you.I did forget to say I have IBS-C , there are some natural ways you can manage the constipation.

You need to drink more water than usual. I used to make a fig and honey smoothie , add a dried fig and a couple of teaspoons of manuka or local honey, a tablespoon of oats and a handful of almonds, a tablespoon of live probiotic natural yoghurt to a glass of milk ( dairy or dairy free). Blitz in a blender. It's better to have it a few hours before bed so it works by the morning. It's actually just tasty to keep in the fridge and have as a small portion of breakfast smoothie as well.

Have more soluble fibre everyday, but if it's been several days you may want more insoluble fibre ( that can give people with IBS an achy tummy so for people like me it's a last resort). Sweetcorn or popcorn , nuts or seeds . Increasing your vitamin C intake also helps in general.

Depending on your digestives conditions Lactulose solution can be a last resort. I used to be given Laxido and the other prescribed stuff but for me personally I could drink them for days with no results but many people find they work.

Hi, sorry to here you don't feel great. Ask your GP for Laxido. That will help with your constipation.

You could have pulled some muscles in your chest moving the furniture. I find it I am bending forward I can get a pain in my chest but it's acid reflux soon remedy with Gaviscon. I get acid reflux if constipated . How do I put this politely when trying to go to the toilet when constipated I can hurt my chest trying to go. But I don't take anything to make me go so make sure I up my fruit ,veg and fibre plus mugs of tea and plain water.

That's the great thing about this group you can talk about anything that bothers us . No subject is taboo.

My answer to constipation problems is castor oil in small doses. So no more than one third of a TEASPOON first thing in the morning. It moves the problem and reduces any associated pain thereof. Guaranteed to work reasonably quickly and very efficiently. Buy it from Amazon and make certain it is in a dark glass bottle, the one I use is called "Fushi". The old remedies are frequently the best πŸ‘Œ Also excellent applied topically for skin problems and on scars to reduce itching, etc, etc. Recommended by me!! "Fushi" is also organic by the way...

Because the GTN eased the pain, I would contact your doctor even if it's more likely to be pulled muscles but you really must have help for that constipation. I've been on opiates for years which also cause constipation. I take laxido constantly and even that often doesn't work so I resort to prunes ( Princes are the nicest) and lots to drink. People tend to think chronic constipation is just feeling "bunged up" but it can be very serious and can cause blockages that need surgery. Please don't just put up with it or constantly strain. Not only does that put pressure on your heart it can also cause haemorrhoids. My uncle died of a heart attack after struggling on the toilet. Don't underestimate constipation.

I agree with qualipop about not underestimating constipation, talk to your gp about your issues, i was having discomfort in my chest and also i was getting chronic constipation daily at the same time and no matter what i done it wouldn't budge, was sent for scan and found out i had a disease called diverticulitis and prescribed laxido, constipation is no joke as it can lead to other health issues.

It can be caused by other conditions too. After abdominal surgery, scar tissue (adhesions) can stick to the bowel wall and other organs and prevent it from stretching so causing partial blockages. My friend's husband died from an impacted bowel caused by adhesions from hernia surgery.
