WPW and Betablockers

I've got myself confused tonight. I'm reading that someone with WPW should avoid betablockers as they are an AV node blocker/slower, and thus can cause problems for people with WPW as they encourage conduction through the extra pathway. Conversely, i'm reading tha Betablockers are the most common prescribed medication as they can stop SVT ever happening in the first place.

Does anyone know for sure?

Looked up WPW, sorry for my ignorance. Very interesting. I had post Op AFib, successfully bumped into normal sinus rhythm with Cardioversion, I have developed Supraventricular Ectopy and I am on Bisoprolol (lower dose than before) yet to have post Cardiov’ appointment. I appreciate I may be heading back to AFib but feel SO much better than I did. Not sure any of this helps to answer your question, just sharing info, will share again once follow-up appointment happens, best of luck.
