Newly diagnosed with Sinus Tachycardia/Suffering from Arrhythmia’s and High Blood Pressure

Hi all, I am 34 years old. I since August have been getting grips with heart pains which have been really controlling my life and happiness.

My GP sign posted me to here and the NHS website to gain a better understanding about what’s been going on. I have heart conditions in my family, my mother, my grandfather died from blocked arteries.

Prior becoming unwell, I had noticed for the last two years I was lacking energy, my surgery thought it was a combination of my Cerebral Palsy and newly being diagnosed with arthritis when I first experienced regular fatigue.

I went on holiday in July with the other half and our children and recorded videos of us to send the family. My mother pointed out to me she was concerned about my breathing getting heavier and shorter. I noticed I would get breathless much easier than usual when out and about but thought it was just my asthma. Once I came back from holiday I mentioned it to my surgery, they didn’t seem overly concerned about it.

Fast forward to early August, I was out for the day with the family. I felt very tired and weak as if someone flipped a switch, my other half suggested we went for some fresh air, I remember pushing the pram with my daughter in it, I felt warm, dizzy and a sudden need to sit on the bench near me. The next thing I experienced was sharp pain in my chest and my arm and around the back of my neck. I felt my heart racing, I was trying to work out what was going on and finding the right words to explain it. I honestly thought I was going to die, by the time I got to hospital - 90 mins later I was put on the ECG. I was told my heart rate was very fast, it was explained to me I was having arrhythmia’s.

I then had blood test, x-ray to rule out a heart attack. Thankfully it wasn’t after 8 hours in hospital my heart rate was back to normal. The Dr said, let’s hope it was a one off. 2 days later I was back there, I was then given a 24 heart monitor which picked up Sinus Tachycardia.

When I went to the surgery they done their own tests and found, low iron, unhappy with asthma control and high blood pressure. Since September it’s been go to Dr’s more times than I want to admit, Blood Tests, ECG’s, Iron boosting injections, blood pressure checks, and another 7 or 8 hospital visits after having more episodes. Specialist quite frankly has been not very helpful, said: Blood pressure not ideal, “Sinus tachycardia is common and shouldn’t effect you too much, we will do you and x ray rule out anything else going on”, not offered medication offering follow up appointments 3 months later. Meanwhile blood pressure would just go higher and higher, I done a diary and gave it the surgery. I was getting 166/146 along with arrhythmias, it was becoming debilitating where I would lie in bed in agony wanting it to go. Fearing my children would be without their father. They have put me on Ramipril for the blood pressure, first 2 days constant pain with my chest, then all of a sudden arrhythmia’s have stopped at least for now and I am getting BP readings of 120/77 however heart rate still a bit on the fast side, feels like it is going to be a fight to get help from the specialist.

Hoping things start to improve from here.
