Waiting for Echocardiogram results

Hello to everyone, so I had my echocardiogram a week ago, I was told my results would go to my GP and could take quite a few weeks. Could that be a sign everything is ok? Has anyone else had an experience where results go to your GP and the results showed something wrong? I guess I am trying to pin some hope that the results must be all good if they will be going back to my GP.

had the same issue. Mine turned out to be OK but each health authority deals with things in different ways. You might get some joy out of “waiting times” on the NHS website (though I doubt it will be helpful) or the receptionist at your surgery??

You can access your medical records through the NHS app. You will need to sign a form at your GP surgery.

My echos always gone to my cardiologist....sometimes immediately as I usually have the echo just prior to seeing her....so it might depend on the circumstances under which you had the echo...via a cardio or via your GP or via A and E etc. I have never waited for weeks to get an echo result.

I was referred by the A&E doctor. The hospital said the cardiologist will review my scan results and will be sent to my GP, so I was a little lost in who will be giving me the results.

Most of my echos are ordered by my cardiologist and I get the results from him directly afterwards.

The one time I had one ordered by an A&E doctor it was done while I was still in A&E, and I got the results from another doctor (a stroke specialist IIRC) in the A&E.

Yes my husband had a Echocardiogram on 31/10/24. Was told as you GP would get results. Yesterday 25/11/24 went into GP surgery was told yes they now received results but the Doctor as yet has not reviewed them when she does she will get in touch.

Sounds like this is what will happen with mine then. It's not always very clear and my GP practice isn't always the best. I just hope it's not too long of a wait. I hope your husbands results are all clear and OK

Sounds like a feeble response from your GP.She is just not finding time to look at them...inmy opinion.Keep asking as to when you will get the result from her.I am afraid we have to 'fight' for results these days

In my experience? No. I have had abnormal findings take ages to come back to me and normal results reported the next day.
