Inclisiran Injections

Hi, I am due to have my first injection of Inclisiran next Thursday, and I am worried that one of the side effects is shortness of breath, as I have asthma. Also, I'm terrified of needles, especially in the stomach. I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

I’ve been having these injections for two years and not had any side effects. I have mine in the upper arm which I think is more comfortable than the stomach. But the main thing is how low it will make your cholesterol. Mine is now down to 2!

Thank you for your welcome feedback Trevor29. That's great. I do still worry about the Asthma though, if it should cause shortness of breath.

I suggest you search this site for Inclisiran and you will find there are a number of related posts which also cover members experiences before and after taking the injection. Indeed there was one very recent post about Inclisiran which you probably saw.

only had one but didn’t have shortness of breath. Stomach injection only hurt for a short while and was mainly afterwards rather than during. Injections are always quick though

I hardly notice the stomach injection. Seems very mild to me! They do describe the immediate effect after, as a ‘bee sting’. Quickly fades.

Thank you for your reply Kristin1812. I am such a coward where needles are concerned, but if I do have the injection, I will just have to bring and bear it 🙁😊

Good morning Musicl

I was given one injection with Incliseran last November '23. It was a risk as it stays in the system for months or more.

I have had huge reactions to all the LDL reducing medications during the 12 years of my FH diagnosis. I suffer migraine and I have a very sensitive digestive system since Inflammatory Bowel Disease in my teens.

I took the risk despite any specific data during the research on women responses. I suffered migraine every few days in the first couple of months which began to diminish in the Spring. It did bring down the LDL and Im already on a fat free plant based diet. But in July I had a massive Heart Attack and 3 cardiac arrests. I am lucky to be here!

These drugs seem to make men feel great but there are reviews which document individual experiences and most of the complainants are women. I rest my case. The research in very small and it will take some time or more data to be documented.

Hi Michele, I am very sorry to hear of your health problems. You have really been through the mill. It's true that there are so many side effects with all medication. I had a heart attack in 2020 and am on medication or that and I also take medication for chronic acid reflux. I don't like to fill my body with chemicals and I prefer to go down the natural route wherever I can, but unfortunately some meds are a necessary evil. As you say, once you have had the injection, it stays in the system, unlike tablets, which you can stop if you have reactions and that does worry me. I hope you are feeling better now, since your HA in July. Thank you for your feedback on inclisiran and take care 🤗

I am due my 3rd injection next week. After my 1st injection and in the first 3 months my cholesterol had dropped to 2.4!!! Which was amazing! My cardiologist described it as phenomenal!I am intolerant to a number of medications (including statins), and have a condition which puts me at high risk of stroke and another heart attack despite a healthy diet and lifestyle. Apart from a bit of stinging which lasted for about 10 minutes, I have had no side affects (wouldn’t know I’ve had anything at all). I haven’t heard that breathlessness is a possible side effect and this certainly hasn’t been the case for me.

Hope this helps.

Good Morning Musicl, I have had 3 inclisiran injections now and no side affects..

I have various heart problems and take 9 different other Meds plus weekly adlimabab injections for psoriasis still no side affects plus my cholesterol has dropped by half.. a friend of mine suggested putting ice on the area to be injected for a few minutes as I don’t like injections and it works a treat you don’t feel anything from the injection..

Good Luck with it all and think positive

Kind regards

I have the injections in my upper arm with no problems and it's effective! Some noticeable hair loss though.

Thank you for your reply Bobalongbob, is long have you been having the injections for? I already have a hair loss problem, so it might mean me not having them.

I've been taking it for 18 months. As others have pointed out, the drop in Cholesterol is impressive and probably outweighs the loss of hair- which is not dramatic. Best ask your GP 's opinion.
