Inclisiran

I have had problems with 4 statins and Ezetimibe, and GPs have offered Inclisiran.

This is an injection that lasts 6 months, so any side effects stay with you for the duration.

Has anyone any experience of this drug and it's side effects, if any.

And the package leaflet contains this

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine

can cause side effects, although not

everybody gets them.

Common (may affect up to 1 in

10 people)

• Injection site reactions, such as pain,

redness or rash.

So it seems it is well tolerated or simply just early days in it being prescribed although it has been trialled for at least 3 years to my knowledge .

my lipidologist was going to put me on inclirisan then decided to put me on Repatha instead. This was last year when it was first out. He felt he had much more experience with Repatha and had become hesitant over inclirisan. Not sure why. Certainly Repatha has been around a lot longer and he was involved in a 5 year trial. I also have very elevated lipoprotein (a) and Repatha can lower it a bit whereas inclirisan won’t. But you can only have a test for lipoprotein (a) at a lipid clinic. I was referred to one by GP as my cholesterol was so high and I had suddenly developed angina. Lipoprotein (a) is a high risk factor for heart attacks and it’s under tested in the UK.

I have had three injections now and no side effects at all. It does really hurt going in - apparently it’s a lot of liquid! After an hour or so it settled down. It’s cut my cholesterol in half too.

I have been taking Inclisiran for 18 months and my cholesterol is 4 - just on half what it was. I have noticed slight hair loss, but not dramatic. Definitely recommend the drug.
