We are all different in terms of our medical conditions and physical state, so what applies to one person may not apply to the next. I suggest you talk to the cardio team who carried out the procedure for guidance . If you are in the UK you might be offered cardio rehab organised by the cardio team within a few weeks of your procedure which should cover this and more, but if you are not clear on this ask them. Or you could ask the BHF Heart Helpline nurse. But the bottom line is slowly build up your exercise regime, don't overdo it, and listen to your body.

I agree with that. You shouldn't go it alone to start with. You ought to be offered a cardiac rehab course. The 1st course I went on after having 5 stents resulted in the nurse failing me & referring me back to the cardiologist where it was discovered that they had overlooked the insertion of a 6th stent. After the 2nd round of angioplasty I sailed through rehab where they then gave me very important guidelines on what I can & cannot do.

Take professional advice first & good luck.

as Lowerfield says. In my husband’s case,,for example, he had spent ten days in hospital before they got round to stenting him (long story) so his muscles were weak. So it was ten minutes walk on day one, fifteen on day two, twenty on day three etc. At age 59. You may be quite different.

my 62 year old husband had 4stent angioplasty following a heart attack in February. He was advised not to return to any kind of exercise (except gentle walks on the flat) until he’d been assessed by cardiac team (about 6 weeks post procedure) He was then offered 6 weeks of cardiac rehab under supervision.

I’d recommend you speak to your cardiac nurse

Hope this helps answer your question.

I had 2 stents at age 72 and was discharged the same day. I walked half a mile the next day and gradually built up to the 10-milers I was used to. The health service's own gym put me through my paces only about 2 weeks after the stents. May be different for you, just ask the doctors who know you.
