hello I had stents fitted 5 weeks ago and I’m experiencing breathlessness on and off past 2 days.

I was wondering what experiences others have had with angiogram and stents.

I had them Put in when I was younger and I cannot remember any Issues outside of the "Circle of Death", which was basically punch chest and could dislodge the Stents. Bad time.

But I don't recall Breathlessness. I'd contact 111 if I were you, better for True Medical Advice

Hi. I had a HA and stent 9 weeks ago and have experienced intermittent chest tightness and a sensation of breathlessness ever since. I've seen various posts on here from people who have had similar experiences and some of the meds list breathlessness as a side effect. I've had it checked out in A and E and with GP a few times. Everything has been fine. No definitive reason found but docs always prefer to check it out and be sure nothing untoward.

One thing I would add to previous replies. I was told I’d be a new woman and running about after a couple of weeks.

The reality was it took months to rebuild fitness so maybe try to take life steady to avoid breathlessness/chest tightness?

I think we expect miracles and some folk are quick to recover but the average person probably takes far longer.

As always, talk to your doctor or cardiologist for accurate facts about yourself.

Wishing you a healthy recovery!

Yes - I was told because I was fit before my HA I could just carry on as normal. The reality has been very different! Hoping cardiac rehab will help but there's a long waiting list in my area. In the meantime I'm slowly (very slowly) building up distance and speed of walks but half a mile is about my limit at the moment.

I would suggest it's likely an affect of the blood thinning medications you are on. It was for me, and corrected itself once it was stopped after the recommended year prescription.

This seems to be the "normal pattern". Remember you are the captain of your ship and regular monitoring of your BP, meds and diet at the early stages will help you enormously! Your breathlessness will disappear with time, in my case several weeks later!

Hi, I had my two stents on 7 August, I was very breathless for a good few weeks. I didn’t want to talk much when friends called I said for them to do all the talking, I would listen. I felt I couldn’t get the air into my lungs. I did mention it to a healthcare professional who said it could be stress because of what I had gone through and that I also needed to give myself time to heal. In my case it improved a tiny little bit each day.

It would always be advisable to speak to a healthcare professional to put your mind at rest. 🙂
