Angina after stent

Hi all - since my HA and stent a year ago (at 52), I have experienced ongoing angina, which got worse in recent months. I used to use the GTN spray every so often, but for the last few months have been using it 2-3 times a day, every day. Been to hospital, had scans (got more coming up), but all fine so far.

I hardly dare say it, in case it all goes wrong again - but for the last 3 weeks I have had virtually no angina at all (maybe the occasional mild feeling, but it doesn't develop), and have not needed to use the spray. It's the best I've ever felt since having the stent. I am hoping it might have magically resolved itself, but obviously need to wait a while longer to be sure.

Does anyone have any experience of angina resolving after such a long time, and what happened? Did it just disappear one day? Did it stay away? I am wary of getting my hopes up too much.

(PS should also say, never had angina when exercising, was always at rest, triggers seem to be fatigue, stress, temperature change, going outside for a gentle walk, but often no discernible trigger).

Thanks x

Hi, I've had angina type pain since my stent was fitted in July. I've tried the spray but I'm not convinced if it helped. My consultant recommended tweaking my meds - increasing the Ramipril for BP to a higher dose in the morning and also taking it at night. It's early days but I managed to do a longer session at the gym yesterday and felt really good. Walking up a steep hill will be the acid test. Have they tried tweaking your meds?

Thanks. My angina is slightly different in that I never get it when exercising, always at rest. I hope tweaking your meds woks for you. No, they have been reluctant to change my meds so far, but last week I changed from a beta blocker to Adizem. I don't know what difference it will make , if any, but the angina disappeared a good two weeks before starting the Adizem, so it can't be responsible for this. Thanks for replying x
