Bruising on clopidogrel
So do most people who take it. It's one reason that deep massage is NOT recommended for those taking it. (Masseurs should ask clients about medications they are on, and may decline to treat someone on anti-platelets, blood-thinners and anti-coagulants without a note from one's GP.)
An unfortunate 'side effect' of the drug.
I was on it for 12 months and bruised very very easily and some big ones, all stopped after I’d finished the course.Best wishes xx
hi
I had this issue when I was taking this drug, I spoke to my gp as I was worried about a bleed on the brain. She said she had checked this issue and I should not be concerned.
when I was on Clopidogrel was on it for about 18 months I too used to bruise really easily still bruise but not so badly now I have been taken off it, Still on Aspirin bisoprolol Atorvastatin 80mg Ramipril & metformin slow release
Just mention it to your doctor if worried about it when I did they said it was my clopidogrel and I was only ever meant to be on it for a year and they kept me on it 18 months
My legs & arms & body used to have lots of bruises hope you get sorted 😊
When I queried it with my GP they said the discharge notes after my Stent said I should be on it for life
I believe the thoughts on this differ depending on the cardiologist. After having a stent, I was prescribed Plavix/clopidogrel and low-dose aspirin. The Plavix was prescribed for one year at which time I would discontinue, but continue on with the low dose aspirin for life my mother’s cardiologist, on the other hand, does the opposite.
I'm not on this, and on other meds, but I also bruise very easily - big purple bruises that take a couple of weeks to go away.
Yes, as everyone us saying it's side effect if the drug. I was put on it 4 years ago for a TIa. However a pharmacist I saw whilst on holiday informed me that it should only be 6 months following TIA. If anyone else has been informed of the same thing I would be grateful for a response before I try to make a GP appointment.
This is the guidance for anti-platelet treatments for secondary prevention following a MI. There may be a medical reason why you have been prescribed clopidogrel long term (rather than aspirin). I suggest you discuss this with your GP rather than rely on what people on here advise, or indeed someone you met on holiday, neither of whom have access to your medical records.
