I would definitely recommend the Randox blood tests ( Everyman).
My tests show that my Lipoprotein little a was elevated with a reading of 76. I had a low reading with Apollipoprotein E and after discussions with my Cardiologist we both decided to stop my statin therapy. My overall total cholesterol off of statins was 5.4 with a nhs blood test. But since Apollipoprotein E is needed for cognitive brain health and the possible link to statins and cognitive decline the benefits for me is minimal, and we will repeat the randox blood test in December to determine if we need to restart the statins.
Since my operation 13 months ago the only meds I am on is low dose asprin. I am also off bp meds and my current BP is 120/80.
I paid 295 plus a 20% discount on father's day which includes 2 full suite of bloodworm done at 6 month intervals.
I am pleased that you have found what is working best for you
Everybodies situation is different and some need varies meds but it is good that for you that you now only have to take two and I hope it long continues x
Thanks for the reply but you missed the point of my post. Doctors follow the Nice guidelines but these guidelines are based on an average population and not individual. That's the reason I paid for speciality bloods.
For me if there isn't an overall health benefit to continue taking statins and actually there is a link to dementia due to my overall Lipoprotein E reading being extremely low which maybe the link to Dementia and Alzheimers in later life.
My cardiologist and surgeon agreed and the surgeon even stated in my follow up letter that the patient is well versed in Lipidology, his words not mine.
