I have constant fast heart rate. I have been prescribed Ivabradine. I have tried many medications in the past but they either dont work or the side affects are bad. What are peoples experiences with this drug. Thanks

With respect you won't know whether Ivabradine will work for you or if you are going suffer side effects until you have tried it. We are all different and often respond differently to medication and typically for some people medication side effects are really intrusive and for others on the same medication they are non existent. Nonetheless if you do decide to go ahead if you have not done so already I hope it works for you on all levels.

Hi, I have tried it (I have a heart rate that's a law unto itself) but it didn't work for me. On the good side I never had any side effects with it.

Give it a go, many people use it without side effects but I had hallucinations, I saw bars on the wall and snakes in the hallway as did my elderly Aunt on Ivabradine.

hi,

I have a naturally low blood pressure and other medications lowered it even more . I am now on ivabradine which works well at regulating my heart and after a bit of adjustment with dosage I now don’t suffer any side effects. Give it a go as it might be the right one for you.

I have lots of trouble with side effects of different meds but have never had issues with ivabradine. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Ivabradine has worked for me in terms.of helping to slow my heart rate . I don't suffer any real side effects from it. I am only on a small dose now of 2.5mg a day but have taken 5mg a day.

Samtrev - that’s very reassuring! What time of day you are taking 2,5 mg Ivabradine? Do you halve the 2,5 mg tablets?

Many thanks and best health to you!

I have the 2.5 tablets and take them in the morning. Good luck with everything !

Samtrev, thank you very much for your prompt reply!

After STEMI LAD in April (and LV thrombus in between which has been resolved with Warfarin fingers crossed!) my husband is finally on 1,25 Bisoprolol in the mornings (plus Dapogliflozin 10, Ranolazine 375 mg, Aspirin & Clopidogrel)

In the evenings only Candesartan 2mg (plus Atorvastatin 80mg).

The Cardiologist prescribed for his rEF 45% Ivobradine despite his HR is often below 50, and despite in the Ivobradine’s leaflet they advise NOT to take it if HR below 70… we have it at home now, but my husband and I are frightened for him to start taking it in this case.

It's all alot to balance isn't it ! Probably worth re checking about the Ivabradine with the doc if heart rate going low.

Im on PAF and will be off to cardiologist for some very necessary treatment. I cant walk down to our village without stopping on every seat. I become quickly exhausted with my hr reaching 140 within minutes. I then remain feeling rotten for the rest of the day and not nice for a ex athlete at 82..I look forward to hearing how that drug gos as i dont accept drugs easily.

I find high heart rate exhausting. I only have to get out of bed have a shower and its well up in the 140s. Can take sometime in coming down. I have been prescribed HRT in the hope that might help so may try that first. If not I will have to go for it. Nothing has worked in the past. Had an ECG few day's ago and that was borderline whatever that means. Dr says he is unsure about referring back to cardiology. His words unsure. All the best with your treatment.

3 years ago i was offered and recommended pace and ablate. The pacemaker was put in a d then i was handed over to another cardio and she refused to have them go ahead with ablating the AV node. Still dont know why. I hope to find out when I go to the private specialist this comng friday. His visit will cost me but any ops i will have to pay . Apparently he will be able to hand me back to the public system. Heres hoping.

I had AT and I had a cardioversion which reset it, I was then given amiodarone for 6 months. For other reasons my AT will not return as the reason it occurred has now gone. AT is not good for the heart and your consultant should be looking at a cure. The cure is usually an ablation. I don’t know the medication you mention. Try and push for a referral to an AT specialist.

Have had Ablation and Cardioversion but they have not worked. That was 2 years ago. I had CT Angiogram in Jan this year which was re assuring. They just want me to take the medication they think thats the cure. So there is such an expert as an AT consultant. Thanks for your help.
