for a wee while i’ve noticed occasional changes to the colour of my hands.. the back of them changes to a horrible pasty colour ( best i can describe it i’m afraid) the palms go completely white with no red colour whatsoever .. which i know isn’t completely normal.. does anyone have any ideas what the cause might be?.. thanks

Hand colour - heart related?
have you thought about Reynaud syndrome?
looked that up .. the pasty colour symptoms not mentioned in that.. i was thinking might be something to do with lack of circulation.. cyanosis on google (i know we shouldn’t google stuff).. mentioned vasospastic episodes.. that’s why i was wondering if might be heart related
We aren’t medics here so we can’t diagnose. It was just a thought on my behalf that Reynauds might be your issue.
I have Raynaud's Phenomenon, in the cold, my fingers go white, there's a very distinct line between my white fingers and the rest of my hand. My fingers then turn pink and blue and are very painful.
I also have vasospastic angina and migraines another two vasomotor disorders.
When I have a severe episode of coronary vasospasms, my whole body goes pale. My Cardiologist has seen this says it's very noticeable.
My symptoms have improved since I was prescribed calcium channel blockers.
thanks Milkfairy.. it can happen at anytime.. hands not painful just a really pasty unhealthy colour and the palms are completely white.. no redness whatsoever
i’m alread on perindopril for hypertension.. not sure if that’s a calcium blocker
Some drugs can cause Raynaud's phenomenon, also known as drug-induced Raynaud's phenomenon (RP). These drugs include:
Beta-blockers: Used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease, such as propranolol (Inderol)
Best go to your GP to review any medication you are taking.
I was on bisoprolol for a while and my hands and feet used to get extremely cold and go almost white
Hi, my hands change colour and get very cold as do my feet, go white and only way I can warm the up is a warm bath.I was told by the gp it's Raynaud's and it's on my medical notes, not sure if there's a test to confirm this as I haven't had one.
Often I think it's more heart related, I have heart failure and often think it's a lack of blood flow as I have LVSD with reduced EF?
I get bad episodes, worse in cold weather and tried thermal gloves, batter insulted insoles but find the only way to deal with it is a warm bath.
On bisoprolol dapagliflozin ramipril and apixabam which probably don't help but suffered before I started the meds.
as mentioned earlier, beta-blockers like bisoprolol can affect the circulation to the distant bits of your body (hands & feet) in this way, you may want to ask about an alternative medication if this affects you badly
it could be many things including heart failure.
I’m losing my toenails, which could be a direct result of heart failure.
If you are worried consult your go.
Hi
I have noticed my hands do the same recently. Sometimes one hand, sometimes both. Also sometimes my feet look similar. The change of colour only lasts a short while.
I am yet to discuss this with cardiologist who has put me forward for a second angiogram after some issues with LAD noted at stress echocardiogram. I have to wait 6 months for an “urgent” angiogram apparently.
I am currently on bisoprolol, atorvastatin, ranolazine, isosorbide mononitrate, lansoprazole and clopidogrel for angina.
Sorry I’m not yet able to give a reason for this so not much help at the moment, but if I find out I will let you know.

thanks😊i don’t take any of that medication but i definitely need to discuss this with my gp.. have been ignoring it for a while but now getting to the stage i need to get a diagnosis
I get very white and cold hands since being on medication after 2 procedures to fit stents. I think it’s the Bisoprolol beta blocker. I get it in the large supermarket from the chillers and have had to escape to the car with heating on! I now have hand warmers and have found sheepskin mittens helpful. BW Lorna
I have the same issues but waiting to see the cardiologist to get answers to my health. So I recently asked for a second opinion, on my health, as I believe there are issues needing resolved.
So like your self, with physical activity, or standing on my feet all day, i find the finger tips of my hands go whitish in colour. My palm go the same way, whitish with pink blotchy areas, so had asked the cardiologist , if this was an issue with my circulation. Now I also have other symptoms in connection with my hands, which are numbness in both arms, pins & needles in hands, and hands are cramp and stiff
He dosn't think this to be the case, but an appointment has been made, for me to go to hospital sometime around Dec. I have been doing some research on a possible cause, and one other reason for this might be, something like a pinched nerve in the spin...This is based on my past health, of compressed nerves in my hips
no pins and needles Joe. just occasionally when i look at my hands the backs have gone a pasfy unhealthy colour and the palms completely white.. also noticed nails turning white too
my hands do this with Raynauds. I’d speak with your GP.
is it painful?.. because i don’t get any pain
It can be yes.
i don’t think it’s Raynauds.. need to try and find out exactly what it is.. as i said no pain just backs of hands a really horrible unhealthy pasty greish yellow colour and palms white and no colour in nails .. need a visit to GP .. but feel stupid going there because of lack of pain
