Dry throat is it medication?

I've had a dry mouth in the middle of the night for some years, though my dentist reckoned that my salivary glands were working well. So I suck Sula sugar-free sweets. After my TAVI 13 months ago, the dryness increased - I take Ramipril and Clopidogrel. I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in December 2022, but after adopting a strict diet am now below the threshold.
if you think diabetes might be on the horizon, go to the specialist diabetes charity website for more information (I can’t remember exactly what they are called but Google will). Are you seen annually by a medical person? Have you and appropriate blood tests?
if it’s diabetics your regular blood tests will show it. Gloucose meters are available to the general public around £20. Get one if you are worried, your readings should be between 4 and 7 mmols. Mine usually sits around 5.4 - 6.5
I’m on daploraflozin, a diabetic pill that takes excess gloucose out of the system. Your statins can also cause it.
Have a word with the doctor
if you think it might be caused by jour medication try checking the info with them, that lists possible side effects - a pharmacist may be a good person to ask too
Hi if you take co codamol they can give you a dry mouth and throat, I can drink over a pint of water during the night because of this. I seem to have always been a thirsty person and I have been tested for diabetes so many times but thankfully there are no signs of it. I just make sure I always have a bottle of water with me all the time. Char
