Neck/throat pressure

I had an svt episode last night,it woke me from sleep, lasted two hrs.

Had svt a decade so not concerned, however today whenever I attempt to walk I have an intense sensation of pressure in my neck/throat.

I was prescribed an angina spray whilst waiting for tests( angiogram),

Took two doses of angina spray it eased the sensation but not totally.

Should I make an appt with GP?

Definitely. That describes my pre-heart attack angina exactly. If you find it is taking longer to ease, or not really going off properly, get on the 9s.

Ask for an emergency appointment with GP

Unfortunately I'm away on a weekend break.

I'm avoiding walking and carrying gtn spray, will definitely be seeing doctor when home

It's not much help but I have been taught over the years to be concerned if after taking three doses of GTN and it doesn't go, try a third puff if it doesn't go then it's A&E.

I have been having the pressure in throat and chest for a couple of months. I,m 72 and have Svt. I will be seeing a cardiologist on jan 20 2020. I would like to know what your diagnosis was because I,m concerned. The women in my family have had heart attacks.

Hi.

I haven't received a diagnosis as such but I don't have coronary artery disease.

I have a leaking heart valve but there are no concerns about that.

I have high blood pressure but that could be linked to stopping beta blockers.

I haven't had the fullness in my neck over the past few weeks

I have noticed though that the fullness in my neck and shortness of breath seems to flare up after an attack of svt especially if its a prolonged bout.

I hope you get some answers.

Patricia

I have a leaking mitral valve too! My last Svt attack was about 4 weeks ago and a mild attack in the night recently. I haven,t had the pressure recently too. Thanks for the update.

I've had a few bouts of svt recently lasting an hour or more.

I seem to be more likely to have the fullness in my neck and shortness of breath a few days after the svt episode.

Its strange we both have a leaking valve,I wonder if its linked to svt?

I have always thought so too! I have tinnitus but had it for many years in my left ear, now I hear a shushing noise Too in time to my heartbeat when I,m in bed. They say my mitral valve is within normal limits. Also they say leaking valves are not inherited but my half brother had an operation, my grandfathers brother, my cousin, and my grandfathers brother on my fathers side. I,m sure this leaking valve has affected my life with palpitations for many years, I worked and brought up 3 children but was always fatigued from age 28.
