so the heart nurse came to see me Wednesday and said my heart wasn’t pumping as well as it should. So I’ve been taken off Ramipril and put on Losartan and Dapagliflozin is anyone else on them what are they like? I only started them today thanks

I've been on Losartan for well over a decade without any issues whatsoever. I was on 100mg at one time, but currently take 25mg as I had a triple bypass which improved my blood pressure considerably.

Unfortunately I have no experience of Dapagliflozin, but a friend is on that as part of his treatment. We are both active hill walkers in our 70s, so I think that says something about these medications. Hopefully they will suit you, but if you have any issues please do advise your cardiologist, GP or whoever is responsible for prescribing.

All the best,

Gerald

Ive been taking both for about 15 months now, together with bisoprolol 10mg and furosimide 20mg. I've had zero side effects, my BP is down and cardiac output has increased by 15% . So very pleased. Hope all goes well with you x

I’m on Dapagliflozin. I was advised to make sure I drink plenty of water during the day and, as a diabetic, I’m advised to stop taking it if I’m ill and could be dehydrated, then start again when I’m feeling better. Zero side effects here. Good luck!

Not experienced either drug as put on Irbersartan which suits me well. Had very bad cough with Ramipiril and as I have COPD I had to stop it. Give drugs time to work and best of luck x

Hi Wanheda1

Firstly, I will start with the caveat that we’re all different and what works for one may not be as effective for another and vice versa.

Secondly, I only have personal experience with dapagliflozin and it really didn’t agree with me. I was getting thrush constantly and suffering with chest pains that would sometimes wake me from sleep.

I am now taking empagliflozin and ivabradine and they seem to suit me just fine 👍🏻

Wishing you all the best with your change in medication and I hope they work for you.

Best wishes

Dapagliflozin was originally used to treat diabetes and was found to also improve heart failure by over 20%. I have been on it a while and haven't had any negative side effects. It makes you body excrete extra glucose so has had a small positive impact on my weight. Was first prescribed it by papworth and one of the cardiac nurses said it was the best treatment for heart failure discovered for years. Sorry, not on the other one😁
